Jewelry Care Guide

At Estudio Alba, each piece is designed to last — when treated with care, our jewelry can accompany you for years, even a lifetime. Below you’ll find tips on how to store, clean, and protect your gold, silver, and gemstone pieces to keep them shining.

1. Wear with intention

Apply perfumes, lotions, hairspray, or other beauty products before you put on your jewellery. These substances can dull or damage metals and stones.

Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising, or doing chores — exposure to water, chlorine, salt, and sweat can accelerate wear, tarnish, and damage.

For plated pieces or delicate gemstones, treat them especially gently — solids like 14 k or 18 k gold are more resilient.

2. Storage matters

Store each piece separately (ideally in its original box or a soft pouch) to avoid scratching and tangling. Chains should be unclasped and laid flat.

Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from excessive heat, sunlight, moisture, or direct air exposure, which can cause tarnish.

Use anti‑tarnish strips or silica packets for silver, vermeil, or pieces stored long-term.

3. Cleaning and upkeep

Gold (solid): Soak in mild, warm soapy water for 5–10 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, especially under stones. Rinse and dry with a lint‑free cloth.

Wipe with a soft polishing cloth regularly. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Silver and Vermeil: Wipe regularly with a dry microfiber or polishing cloth. For tarnish, use a formulated silver polish or solution designed for vermeil. Avoid contact with water, soaps, and cosmetics when possible for vermeil or plated items.

Gemstones & Pearls: Many gemstones (e.g., opals, emeralds) and pearls are delicate: avoid soaking, harsh chemicals, and high heat. Use a damp soft cloth for gentle cleaning.

For pearls: store separately, handle with care, and avoid contact with perfumes or moisture.

4. Care & inspection

For your most-worn treasures, clean lightly every few weeks; for occasional pieces, a few times a year is sufficient.

5. Longevity & mindset

View your jewellery as an heirloom in the making. The quality of care you apply is as important as the materials themselves: handling, storing, and cleaning responsibly ensures your piece remains meaningful and beautiful over time.

Mistakes happen: if you notice a loose stone, a scratch, or an issue with plating, please reach out — many brands (and ours) provide repair or refurbishment services.
